Biography
Victoria is a Partner in our Human Resources practice in Brisbane. Prior to joining Minter Ellison, Victoria spent six years as a barrister and solicitor with Chapman Tripp in New Zealand.
She is a skilled advocate with experience in all employment law matters. Victoria's areas of specialty include discrimination and termination, particularly senior executive termination, restraint of trade and breach of confidentiality. Victoria has appeared, predominantly on behalf of employers, in a broad range of Courts, Commissions and Tribunals in both Australia and New Zealand.
She also has proven expertise in good faith bargaining, including successfully defending the first application in New Zealand for facilitation orders (similar to good faith bargaining orders under the Fair Work Act 2009) and term fixing due to an alleged "serious and sustained breach of good faith" which was said to arise out of the employer's bargaining strategy. The successful defence of the applications on all fronts meant that the employer's bargaining strategy was legitimised.
Victoria is currently completing a Masters Degree at the University of Queensland specialising in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. She is also a member of the Australian Labour Law Association.
